Time for reflection

When was the last time you stopped to reflect upon your life??

I was recently sidelined with a fall so have had a couple weeks when life has taken a decidedly different course than I am accustomed too. I’ve had to take a back seat and learn to accept life as it comes for a little while.

Friends have been great to volunteer their services with meals, rides and dog walking duties. Even my pets have been extra solicitous. As a results I’ve had great cause to think about the wonderful things which my life provides.

Friends. When was the last time you stopped to think about those you can truly call friends. I remember growing up that my parents told me that I’d find I had fewer friends the older you got. This is one time when I have to say this is not true of my life. Because I have been open to others I have experienced positive developments in more than one relationship.

Health. We live in a society of increasing sicknesses and ills yet we are among the most healthy nations of the world. My fall required two separate trips to the hospital for diagnosis and medication. Although the wait in an emergency room is never pleasant, the staff treated me kindly and with respect and the doctors were knowledgeable and attentive. I am extremely grateful for medicine which has eased my pain and the easy access we have to professionals who can help us.

Happiness. I have experienced considerable pain and discomfort over the past few weeks. Many would react to this circumstance with very negative feelings. I have found exactly the opposite. My heart has opened as I have been able to feel the warmth of others and I have appreciated the opportunity to reflect on the good things in life. In spite of the negatives which have come from this experience I can say I am very happy with my situation. The world often reflects back a bleak picture of life and we start to expect that things must always be rosy for us to be happy. I have learned that happiness comes from within as we traverse the vicissitudes of life and find ourselves with the choice of reacting in either a positive or negative manner.

Are you happy with your world? Do you appreciate the many good things which life has to offer?? Take the time today to reflect and you’ll be surprised how much many reasons there are to keep going.

Things you should consider before starting a home business

In case you are planning of starting a home business then it would be wise of your conduct a thorough research on the subject in order to fully grasp the enormity of the project you are about to undertake. While it is true that starting a home business can be a very profitable, it is also equally true that many people venture into this business practice without a thorough grasp of the intricacies and subsequently they find themselves not succeeding the way they had expected. This happens because certain obvious and yet hidden aspects are not made aware to them through ordinary research.

Here are a couple of things that you should make careful note of before you decide on starting a home business.

Obviously, working from home needs a different kind of mental outlook that working in an office. What people overlook is that working at home involves a lot more distractions than a workplace where everyone else is busy at the same time. In an office, there is no TV, radio, screaming kids, people talking away on the phone, trades people calling every hour, and so on. All these little points can really add up to a complete inability to run a business sitting in your home.

Then there is the matter of being your own boss. If you have never owned a business before you should realize that business owners are very disciplined people. Since there will be no "boss" over you and you will only be accountable to yourself, this sudden lack of supervision can prove troublesome. You need be regular in your hours and understand that being your own boss means behaving exactly the way you would if you had a boss who was someone else.

Also, remember that since you are the business owner, you are in charge of procuring all the supplies that you might have taken for granted until now. There are many hidden expenses involved in running a business so be prepared for unexpected (but necessary) expenses. Whether it is a printer running out of ink or you running out of stick-it notepads, everything is now up to you and you alone (unless of course you hire someone but then that is not really the point of starting a home business).

Last, and perhaps the most important, you are now in charge of making up your tax returns. Most home business opportunities will not deduct any taxes from your income so everything that you earn needs to be accounted for in your tax statement (unless explicitly stated that something cannot be taxed). It is not unusual for a lot of home business owners to hire someone as a consultant to take care of their taxes because this is something that needs to be done carefully as mistakes can inadvertently put you on the wrong side of the law.

Embroidered workwear goes beyond just decoration

:
Embroidered workwear can incorporate neatly sewn - in company names and company logos on the work wear. Embroidering creates a distinctive effect of its own, an effect that can enhance the brands of companies.

These embroidered lettering and logos are durable, washable and can be made using the distinctive patterns, colors and lettering styles the company already uses. Sewn in embroidery is difficult to remove and so your brand will go wherever the cloth goes.

The image of your company can definitely be enhanced through well-designed and executed embroidered work wear. Seen day-in-day-out, the lettering and logos can imprint your company brand into the minds of all who come to see it.

Non-Sewing Solutions

Where sewing is not the best solution as for waterproof clothes, heat transfer can be employed for lettering and logos. Permanent and washable, heat transfer is ideal for single color work.

Embroidered workwear is available for catering and chefs wear, high visibility safety wear, strikingly patterned aprons, jackets and coveralls, ties and scarves, business wear and trousers, and any other kind of work or professional wear.

The Appeal of Embroidered Work Wear

Embroidery adds its own appeal to the standard work wear, making it more attractive to the workers. The patterns on embroidered workwear break the monotony and boredom of uniformity. You might actually be contributing to better HR by having your workwear embroidered.

Another aspect of embroidered workwear is personalization. You can order personalized workwear that is suited to your profession or business, as well as your own tastes.

In these days of advanced technology, personalization is not all that big a problem and suppliers might accept even one garment as the minimum order size.

Embroidered "Workwear" as Promotional Clothing

You can offer embroidered wear as part of your promotional efforts. For example, your customers might be delighted to receive embroidered polo shirts or sweatshirts.

If you brand these wear with your logo and name, many outside your organization will see it, and the awareness of your company brand will expand.

Getting Embroidered Workwear

You can get embroidered workwear from work wear suppliers. Suppliers with modern equipment will not find it a problem to embroider the clothing.

Alternatively, you can approach specialist embroiderers who will focus on the embroidery alone.

Conclusion

Embroidered workwear could do many things. It could help build your corporate brand and image. It could contribute to worker pride and satisfaction. It could promote your business.

With the advances in technology, personalization of even small quantities of work wear is not a problem. Suppliers might be willing to supply an order for even a single garment as embroidered workwear.

Consumer revolution in the home warranty industry

Imagine going to the grocery store… but when you get there, someone tells you what to buy. They load up your cart with goods – regardless of whether you need them or not – and expect you to pay full price for them.

When you get home, what do you do? You toss out the sardines and the artichoke hearts and wish that you could have bought more toothpaste. But it simply wasn’t allowed.

The problem with this scenario is that you have no choice and no control. Since someone else is making the decisions, you end up losing money. (Just what is an artichoke heart, anyway?)

While this idea may sound comical to some, that’s exactly what’s going on in the home warranty industry. Customers who are looking for home warranties are showing up at a home warranty provider’s website and being told what to buy… and how much they’ll get.

Do you need two air conditioners covered? Too bad. Don’t have any ceiling fans? Too bad. You only get one air conditioner covered on your policy and you’re paying for ceiling fan coverage anyway. Will the home warranty provider do anything about it? Probably not.

Well, most of them won’t.

One company, however, does offer something different. It’s an innovative customer-centered solution. It’s a consumer revolution because it takes the control out of the hands of the home warranty company and gives it to the consumer. With Met Home Warranty’s revolutionary Design-A-Plan, customers have the ability to completely control their home warranty policy.

Design-A-Plan will change the way home warranty customers will shop for their coverage. Policies will no longer be assigned to customers whether they need specific systems covered or not. Instead, customers can choose among base packages and adjust their plan according to their needs.

Do you need two air conditioners covered? No problem! Don’t have any ceiling fans? Don’t pay for them!

What’s great about this innovative system is how easy it is to use: Design-A-Plan will take the customer step-by-step through their policy creation in a hassle-free “no-salesperson-will-call” atmosphere. Along the way they’ll learn about their home and they’ll do due diligence on the home warranty industry.

Design-A-Plan does two things: First, it takes other home warranty companies to task for robbing their customers of choice and control. Second, it returns that choice and control where it belongs… back in the hands of the consumer!

Homeowners deserve choice when buying a home warranty policy. It’s time they got that choice!

Pass the peanuts please

Most people are familiar with the use of peanuts in snacks, desserts and in Asian cuisine, but did you know that peanuts and peanut butter are cholesterol-free sources of protein that offer 13 vitamins and 26 minerals? Now you can enjoy them knowing that you are making smart choices. Check out the following Peanut Pointers about why you should pop more peanuts:

1. Peanuts' and peanut butter's combinations of fiber and mono-unsaturated fat satisfy for hours, which means fewer cravings for empty-calorie snacks.

2. Peanuts have no cholesterol. They are also a good source of protein, fiber and other nutrients like vitamin E.

3. Scientific evidence suggests that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, including peanuts, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.

4. Peanuts contain resveratrol, a naturally occurring phytochemical also found in red wine, which has been associated with reduced cardiovascular disease and reduced cancer risk.

5. Harvard School of Public Health researchers reported in 2002 that consuming one tablespoon of peanut butter or an ounce of peanuts five or more times a week is associated with a 21 percent and 27 percent reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes, respectively.

In a nutshell, peanuts are a sweet and savory food that you can enjoy knowing they are beneficial. Keep peanuts in your pocket, purse, desk drawer, car or even under your pillow so you can always have a natural and nourishing snack handy. Peanuts are helpful in the kitchen too-add them to meals for an extra punch of protein.

Try roasting your own peanuts at home for a personal spin on flavor:

Place raw peanuts, in-shell or shelled, one layer deep in a shallow baking pan. Roast in a 350°F oven-15 to 20 minutes for shelled and 20 to 25 minutes for in-shell peanuts. Remove from heat just short of doneness desired, as peanuts continue to cook as they cool.

Eat your homemade peanuts plain, or while they are still hot, add some extra flavor. For delicately sweet peanuts, add sugar and cinnamon. Or add grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. You can spice things up by adding spices such as paprika and cayenne pepper. Be creative! One big batch of roasted peanuts can be put in separate bowls with different flavors for a peanut party.

How to place bet on favorites for a living review - good or bad

I decided to write this How to ‘Place Bet’ on Favorites for a Living review after having the unique opportunity to see what the system can do, first hand. Hopefully, after reading this brief review of the features and benefits of the book, you’ll have a good idea whether or not the system will work for you and if it is something you should look into on your own.

There is a ton of money to be made in the world of horse racing, you just have to know how to do it. There are many different betting systems that claim to work harder to get a piece of horse betting money, but in my opinion there is really only one stand out: How to ‘Place Bet’ on Favorites for a Living. In the book, author Mohammad Ali proves to you that anyone can consistently achieve success in the horse racing betting arena.

How to ‘Place Bet’ on Favorites for a Living gives you an excellent program that can get your win strike rate up to 89.52 percent and your place strike rate up to 96.35 percent. Those aren’t just one-time results, either. Those results will last for as many races as you use the system in, for the rest of your life!

If you go to the website of How to ‘Place Bet’ on Favorites for a Living, you will see a ton of testimonials written about the book. It goes without saying that all of them are positive, but the levels of success vary. Some of them use the system just for extra side money (up to $1,900 or more per week!), in addition to day jobs. Others use the betting system to fully replace their 9-5 job, just taking up a few hours each week to successfully run.

Also, with purchase of the book How to ‘Place Bet’ on Favorites for a Living, you’ll get a free mini course called The Secrets to Quickly Picking Winners by Reading Form Only! This three part email course sent to you every other day works well with the book. I highly recommend this program to horse racing betters of all skill levels. With all the support and testimonials, you’d be crazy not to try it out!

Children and acid reflux

Acid reflux is a condition normally associated with adults. Sadly, many children also suffer the effects of acid reflux.

This desease, also referred to as gastro-esophageal reflux, occurs when stomach contents churn and rise up into the esophagus, the tube connecting the stomach with the mouth. A muscle between the esophagus and the stomach, known as the lower esophageal sphincter, is responsible for keeping the stomach closed off until food is swallowed. The lower esophageal sphincter then opens up and allows the food into the stomach before closing again. Although Acid reflux can begin during infancy, it can carry over into early childhood.

Though quite common in children, most people are not aware of it's occurrence. In most cases, the process of gastro-esophageal reflux occurs quickly, the acid comes up into the esophagus and then rapidly goes back down into the stomach. In this case, the esophagus suffers no damage. However, if the stomach acid stays in the esophagus, it damages the esophagus lining. In some cases, the stomach contents rise up all the way into the mouth, only to be swallowed again. This process causes a number of symptoms such as a chronic cough, or a hoarse voice. More serious symptoms can include difficulty in swallowing, wheezing, and chronic pneumonia.

Anyone who suspects that their child is afflicted with acid reflux, should have the child seen by his or her pediatrician. After examining the child and evaluating the symptoms, the doctor may run tests to diagnose whether acid reflux is present. Often, the doctor will begin treatment before testing for acid reflux.

In one of the tests, called an upper GI-series X-ray, the child's X-ray is taken after being given a glass of barium to drink. This particular test is successfully used to locate hiatal hernias, blockages, and other gastrointestinal problems.

Another test, thought to be more effective than the X-ray, is the endoscopy. Typically, the child is sedated and put to sleep during the test. An endoscope, which is a thin, flexible plastic tube with a camera attached to the end, is then placed inside the throat. With the help of endoscope, the doctor is directly able to examine the esophagus lining, stomach, and a portion of the small intestine. The endoscopy also allows the doctor to perform a biopsy rather painlessly.

Yet another test, the esophageal pH probe, may also be used. This test consists of using an extremely light, and ultra-thin wire with an acid sensor tip and inserting it through the patient's nose and into the lower esophagus. This method is used to detect and record the presense of stomach acid in the esophagus.

The good times are guaranteed by the wedding singer

There are three things that all wedding receptions must include to turn out as memorable and successful events. The three “G’s” of good food, good times, and good entertainment will make your wedding reception into an event enjoyed by all who attend. Generally taking care of the first and third of these concepts will guarantee the second. Good food is generally attained by hiring a competent caterer and not serving okra. Good entertainment brings with it a number of options and, unfortunately, none are ever ensured to be as good as they purport. One entertainment option for wedding receptions is the wedding singer. For far less than you’d pay a band and a bit more than you can expect to pay a DJ, you can get an entertainer that is a master of ceremonies, singer, and comedian all rolled into one.

Popularized by Adam Sandler’s 1998 film The Wedding Singer, the person fulfilling this role at your reception will entertain you and your guests from start to finish. The wedding singer keeps the “show” aspect of the reception rolling along smoothly by providing music for dancing, and introducing various aspects of the reception such as the throwing of the bouquet/garter, and the unwrapping of wedding gifts. A good wedding singer will be the life of the party, keeping everyone in a good mood and having a good time by filling the lulls with witty comments and by singing his heart out. Some wedding singers will also have the guests sing, making parts of the reception a kind of karaoke party. Everyone loves karaoke. Even those who claim to despise it actually have a tiny Mel Torme, David Lee Roth, or Richard Cheese deep inside them just aching to get out. The wedding singer will bring this out in people.

Finding a wedding singer to hire for your reception is often as easy as looking through the telephone directory or searching the Internet. You’ll find that there are all types of wedding singers available to perform at your reception. Wedding singers will generally have a variety of musical styles to offer in their repertoire. Some offer general services which include a number of popular songs that they can perform at your wedding. Others are more specialized and offer “tribute” performances to famous singers like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett or even the likes of Barry Manilow or Burt Bacarach. Most will be more than happy to discuss your musical tastes with you and gear their performances accordingly. Whatever musical style suits your particular tastes, you’re sure to be able to locate a wedding singer willing to perform it for you.

Wedding singers can do it all for you and the good ones can make for a truly entertaining experience. When you’re planning the entertainment for your wedding reception, consider hiring a wedding singer to help make sure your event fulfils the requirement of the three “G’s” and is a memorable occasion for you and your guests.

Taking them there- from cyberspace to your vacation space

There is no doubt that effective marketing will bring new and returning guests to your vacation site - whether it's a small beach home for rent, or a destination retreat exclusively for adults. No matter. When searching for the perfect vacation site, potential guests look for very specific information. There is no doubt that the more details you are able to include in your website, the more likely you are to capture vacation dollars.

* When first trying to decide where to visit or what to do, vacationers now use the Internet as their personal travel agent and researcher. By typing in their choice(s) for the "best vacation ever," they weigh all the factors that are important to them for an enjoyable trip. Do they favor water specific locations - a beach in Tahiti, a lake in Wisconsin or a river in Glacier National Park? Maybe they prefer a mountain destination - Mt. Rainier or a trek through the Swiss Alps. Are they folks that want to be where the action is, or do they relish the quiet and peace of a secluded beachfront cabin? When describing your location, make sure you feature anything and everything that might appeal to potential vacationers.

* Nothing is more true than the adage, "Every picture tells a story." When trying to attract visitors to your destination, it is very important to include clear and descriptive photos of the facility itself, the rooms, the common areas, the surrounding scenery and any number of other attractions that make your site unique and inviting. Group the photos into sections -- for example don't put a photo of the mirror-like lake in with those showing a typical guest bathroom. Make it easy for a potential visitor to travel through your website with ease and in a natural progression. Remember, photo quality is of primary importance. If you're not a good photographer, hire a professional. A single photo may sell your property to an indecisive potential visitor!

* With the availability of sophisticated, hand held equipment, it is now possible for you to produce a 360-degree video of your guest rooms, the dining room, the swimming pool and most other guest sites. The video should look as if it was done professionally so, if in doubt regarding your photography skills, hire a professional for this one.

* Don't forget to include information regarding the history of the area. For example, did it develop as a result of California's Gold Rush in the 1850s? Do your own research using the local library and Chamber of Commerce brochures. Is your location the birthplace of someone famous, or did a major Civil War battle take place just five miles out of town?

* Should you recommend travel insurance to potential guests? This relatively inexpensive protection might save hem hundreds of dollars should a medical emergency or some other problem occur prior to or during their trip.

* One of the best ways to get the "flavor" of a vacation site is to include stories told by previous visitors or area locals. Be sure to include the tale about the biggest fish ever caught off the facility's dock. Or maybe there's an especially interesting "character" who lives nearby and who enjoys talking with visitors every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. In addition, there's no harm in including comments written by former guests in your website. These will assure your credability and attest to the fact that your fresh-squeezed fruit juices are the best they've ever tasted room. A comments section will also give former visitors the chance to rave about the free bicycles, fishing poles and rowboats you make available to all registered guests!

Using zero interest introductory offers to your advantage

As consumers we are constantly bombarded with offers and incentives to attract our business, and most of the time the solicitations are nothing more than basic junk mail. But sometimes an offer comes along that looks too good to be true, or at least too good to resist. Zero interest offers are one of the most alluring, and for good reason. If you use them carefully, they can definitely work to your advantage.

Most zero interest offers for purchases of big ticket items like automobiles should be carefully evaluated, because they often include complex legal and financial language to spell out the terms – which in the end normally favor the company offering them. If you are presented this kind of deal, run it past an attorney before signing, and have the attorney advise you regarding exactly what you are getting yourself into and how much you can benefit once everything is said and done.

For credit card offers, which are more common, you’ll need to read the small print and study the offers until you’re confident that you know the terms, especially regarding two major stipulations. The first is the expiration date of the offer. Most of these are simply introductory offers, meant to capture your business. After a period of a few months, many of these revert to high interest rates, sometimes jumping from zero percent to 18 percent or more overnight. If you use these offers, be sure to pay off any outstanding balance you might have that is subject to the rate change, before the introductory offer expires.

Other offers allow you to keep the zero interest, as long as you use it only for the purpose of transferring your balances from cards issued by competitors of the card making the offer. This can be an easy way to reduce your debt. If, for example, you have a $2,000 balance on a card that charges 12 percent, you will have to pay about $120 per year in interest. Switch that balance to a zero percent card and you can save $120 a year.

The second most important thing to watch for is service charges, transfer fees, and other miscellaneous fees. Even offers of zero percent will usually charge a percent – up to $50 or $75 per transaction – for things like cash advances. And on top of the fee, they will charge you interest. For example, if you borrow $1,000 as a cash advance, but your credit limit is $1,025, they might tack on a 50-dollar fee and then you’ll be over your limit. Because you are over limit, you can be charged interest and fees that might add up to a major expense.

Study the small print or have it interpreted by someone who is expert at legalize, and then only take the offers that deliver real financial incentives.

Consolidate debt and eliminate financial stress

Anyone with a high amount of lingering debt can testify to the burden it can be and the stress it can cause. Debt is continually on your mind. When you no longer have control of your debt, you face anxiety, depression and stress. It can affect the quality of your sleep and productivity at work. You make payments each month to a variety of creditors, all of whom wait each month to receive payment. If they do not get their money, they are ready and willing to call or write in search of what they are due. Simply put, you are at their mercy but this can be a temporary situation if you take the proper action.

You can rid of your never-too-far-off creditors and get the debt off your mind. You must eliminate the debt, and this can be accomplished by consolidating your debt. Bill consolidation can consolidate your bad credit and eliminate the multiple payments you make on high-interest accounts. Think about the peace of mind you could have by making only one payment per month and at a lower interest rate. Bill consolidation services are widely available today and can be found online or in the telephone book as well as credit counselors who often offer consolidation services as well. Some non-profit organizations offer free credit counseling, debt management services and counseling and support to help guide you through your financial problems. Even if a debt consolidation service charges a small fee, the peace of mind you gain from it has its own price tag.

Of course, never incurring the debt or bad credit is the best solution. But, if it is too late to take that proactive approach to managing your money, help is still available. Do not let the bills pile up anymore. Debt consolidation is the solution. The longer you ignore the bills and debt, the worse the situation will become and the sooner the creditors will be at your doorstep or on your phone. Take the hassle out of paying your bills and consolidate your outstanding bad credit and debt into one single, low-interest loan requiring only one payment per month. It is far easier to forget to mail a payment when you have six different payments to make and everyone knows that late payments can damage your credit rating. Once you have consolidated your debt, you can save and repair your credit score, begin eliminating your debt and gain control of your finances.

Professional web hosting vs. free web hosting

Both free and professional web hosting have their benefits and down sides. However, before the best type of web solution can be found the webmaster will need to consider the main motivator for the website.

For those looking for a home page, hobby site, or non-profit website a free hosting service will provide the basics of what is needed at just the right price - free. Although a free website will not provide a professional scene for a business, or a webmaster looking for credibility, as unfortunately free services look very "cheap" then little else can be expected from something that costs nothing.

A free website will offer webmaster's free templates for the design of the website, and helpful wizards that take the webmaster step by step through the uploading process. Often a free service may offer free domain names and email facilities with their package.

Customer service is often included, although how good the service is will often vary. The biggest problem with a free service is, the amount of traffic onto the sight may be limited, and the sizes of the files being transported may also be limited. Free hosting companies often experience a lot of down time, so they can at times be unreliable.

Because the site is free, the hosting company may very well be relying on sponsors in the way of banner ads to keep the company in business. If this is the case, setting up a business with flashing banners will really cramp your style, credibility, and scare away potential customers.

Paid services are used by webmasters to keep things running smoothly in business, what this means is the good web hosting companies will provide excellent customer service, and have plenty of happy customers who are willing to add their testimonies. Professional companies will usually offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, live chats, and telephone services for customers experiencing difficulties.

Many professional companies will also offer discounts and bonuses for your business, and reward you for paying early. Other things that a professional web hosting company will offer is ample web space, and disk space. Often large amounts of uptime will be guaranteed, and sometimes failure to keep this amount of uptime will result in compensation from company to their clients.

Professional services may cost money, but the service is far more advanced, and professional companies never take space from their customers in order to place their paid advertisements on. Depending on what a customer is looking for when they create a website, will have a lot of bearing on their choice of providers. For a webmaster that is creating a credible business venture, a professional web hosting plan is vital to business success.

Massage therapy school - training and information guide

Ah, do you know what would be good right now No, it's not a cheeseburger or a chocolate cake. Okay, well a chocolate cake would be rather choice, but I was referring to somewhat far from the food type. Possibly a massage. Have you ever taken the time to spoil in a wonderful massage I must admit it's one of my favorite experiences. There's just something about forged on a table and having your back kneaded ever so skillfully that helps me to relax. It's without a doubt, something every human being should try. Thank God for the ever-popular massage therapy school. That's right; a number of people are taking advantage of these as we speak. A massage therapy school can lead to a wonderful career. Can you imagine total silence and clam, soothing music with no boss yelling in your face If this sounds ideal, maybe it's time you looked into a massage therapy school in your area.

The concept of massage has become rather popular in recent times. Sure, it's been around for centuries, but these days we have a plethora of high-end salons and spas on every corner to satisfy our tired aching muscles. Just last month I stepped into the local salon and spa for a little R and R. I was lead down a winding staircase and toward a small door. After entering the serene room, my mind was set at ease as pleasant aromas tickled my nose. I soon fell into a perfect nirvana of stress-less relaxation. Yeah, I know it sounds like some David Lynch film However, this was my last experience with a masseuse. She even told me about the massage therapy school she attended in Cincinnati. Being the curious fellow that I am, I had to make a few inquiries. She told me that she loved the massage therapy school training and they actually helped place her with a job. You can hardly beat that. All I could think about was I'm jealous of her husband. I need a masseuse for a wife.

If you are interested in massage therapy school, you can easily hop online to check out a variety of options. There are virtually schools all over the country now days. You can also acquire the pay rates for massage specialists these days. Although it will vary from spa to spa, they do provide an average, which is pretty decent. Get your magic touch from a massage therapy school and start earning a living in a more peaceful atmosphere.

Sub-prime mortgage loans qualifying for a mortgage with a foreclosure or bankruptcy

Qualifying for a sub-prime mortgage loan with a foreclosure or bankruptcy in your credit past is just a matter of finding the right lender. As long as you have a regular source of income, you can qualify for a mortgage. The real issue is about qualifying for low rates. But there are ways to improve your mortgage application.

Ways To Help Your Mortgage Application

A foreclosure or bankruptcy primarily affects your credit for the first two years after a discharge. While they will remain on your record for seven to ten years, they will cease to have a significant impact on your ability to qualify for now rates. Instead lenders look at your most recent payment habits and debt ratio.

Besides waiting for your credit score to improve, you can make your mortgage qualifications look more favorable by increasing your down payment. By building equity into the property, lenders reduce your risk score and rates. Remember too that you can access this equity at any time with a home equity loan or line of credit.

Other ways to improve your qualifications are to pay off debt, liquidate investments so you have cash reserves, and close unused credit accounts.

Your Lender Makes A Difference

While you can improve your home loan application, one important way to reduce your loan costs is to find a competitive lender. With rates varying a point or more between sub-prime lenders, time spent researching loan quotes will save you money.

Nearly every lender deals with some kind of sub-prime loans, so include traditional lenders in your search. To use your time most efficiently, ask for loan quotes on the particular loan amount and terms you want. With these relevant numbers, you can determine which company has the lowest costing loan for your particular situation.

Sub-prime loan rates are usually 1-2% higher for every fifty points below 650. It’s important though to also look at closing costs when comparing sub-prime financing. Often a good looking rate can be a more expensive loan because of high upfront fees. Protect yourself by carefully reading the details of each loan quote you receive.

Magnetizing the law of attraction

Much has been said about the law of attraction and The Secret, but we are missing the very practice that makes this law works – harnessing the power of electro-magnetism. The law of attraction is all about magnetic energy. We transmit thought energy which is magnetic. We attract the things that we visualize just like a magnet does. The whole universe was created with thought energy, an indication of how powerful this energy is. A person’s success very much depends largely on his or her ability to use this energy.

To harvest this electro-magnetic energy and improve our ability in attracting what we visualize, we have to practice sleeping with the head of our bed pointing North, running parallel with the magnetic pole through the earth. In this way, the magnetic currents of the earth move from the head to the feet, and we get full capacity. This magnetizes our physical being and enhances our ability to attract the things that we visualize. This may be the reason why some people are restless in bed, because they sleep with their body cutting across the magnetic pole. This is also the reason why some practitioners of the law of attraction get minimal result from their visualizations. It is because they have very weak electro-magnetic energy. People who have practiced the habit of sleeping with their head pointing North have been known to see the Earth’s magnetic field, which looks like fine white rain in a night sky. They can even tell if they are just a few inches off North while lying down because they can feel the energy running through their bodies. I sleep in this manner and have experience many of my visualizations materializing close to my original intentions. Also I feel more energized after I woke up.

The law of attraction operates electro-magnetically. How effective our ability is in attracting what we visualize is dependent on our mind and body’s electro-magnetic power. It is just like the batteries we use on our radio. When the battery is new, we get very clear signal from our favorite radio station, but when the battery is weak, all we get is a lot of static. Harnessing the earth’s electro-magnetic power is like re-charging the mind and body’s batteries to operate on full capacity, so that we can work on a clear signal. Fully charged, we can send our thoughts to the universe confidently knowing that it will manifest what we visualize and then having it sent back to us in its complete form. The quality of our electro-magnetic energy, visualization and the intensity of our broadcasts all have impacts on the end result.

Wedding favors ideas you want to know

Sending guests home with a little something to remember the night by is a classy touch to any wedding. And they don’t have to be extravagant gifts to make a nice impression.

Do you buy or do you make?

When it comes to the list of things to do for a wedding, you may already be feeling overwhelmed. So why make another chore for yourself with homemade wedding favors? Favors can be easily bought from local craft stores—all you have to do is make them personalized, or don’t.

Of course, homemade wedding do feel more special. Sachets and small tokens are simple to create in an afternoon. You may even decide to enlist the help of the wedding party. A little food and win will get them to help.

The usual suspects

If you’ve ever been to another wedding, you may have already seen these suggestions for wedding favors.

Small bags of candies or nuts are always nice to place next to each person’s placeholder. On the same vein, small boxes of chocolate with a nice ribbon or card indicating the wedding date are nice favors too.

Many brides and grooms have chosen to give personalized wedding favors. Match books, candles with holders, champagne glasses, and even CDs can be inscribed with the couple’s name and wedding date as a way to commemorate the day.

If you want to be unique

For the non-traditional bride and groom, you may want to give a little something different. If you have a themed wedding, you can try to give a gift that incorporates that theme. A Vegas wedding might necessitate giving decks of cards or poker chips.

If you’re having a more renaissance style affair, then you can give small sachets of herbs or flowers (such as lavender). And for an outdoor wedding, small bells might be a great gift to give.

The altruistic couple may want to make personal donations in the name of their guests. These can be designated on small cards at each person’s seat. Or the couple may decide to offer each guest a picture from the wedding that they can choose from the ones that have been taken.

In any case, wedding favors are a great way to commemorate a special day for both the couple and their guests. Thank your relatives and friends for supporting you and loving you enough to be with you on this happiest of days.

Shopping for affordable brand name perfume

Brand name perfumes are usually seen in very few shops. Retail chains for perfumes have been present in many of the local shopping malls. It might be quite amazing to know that there are affordable brand name perfumes which are available. This is because usually the branded perfume shopping could cost you a lot of penny. Due to this very reason they are available rarely and are not present in discount prices and so they were bought for special events like weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc.

Nowadays even the brand names perfumes are available at discount prices and also there are a lot of choices which could be made according to your personal taste. For finding out the affordable branded perfumes it is very essential to conduct an internet research. Next place to shop for the branded perfumes are the pharmaceutical stores. They offer some of the most branded perfumes in their beauty sections. Pharmacies are those places which could be used for finding the best branded perfumes out there and even at lower prices. It is very important to note that brand name perfumes could be easily bought at smaller stores as the shopping malls would be quite expensive.

Another place to shop for branded perfumes is retail giant stores. They usually offer branded perfumes at lower cost. In the same way as that of the pharmacies the branded perfumes are made available at cheap prices at shopping outlet and are much lower when compared to that of the prices of shopping malls. Apart from all these the best place for searching affordable branded perfumes are in the internet. The discounts and other deals offered by them are amazing but the only drawback is that there are a lot of scams which are present in the internet and is difficult to figure out. Therefore, it is highly recommended to opt for a genuine site which is famous, heard and experienced by most of them.

It is very essential to wait for shopping online as it is very difficult to get instant results as it takes time when you get the right perfume at hand. Saving money is the most important aspect of people choosing online shopping, but many of them are ignorant or forget about the shipping cost which is imposed by the sites over the product. There are even sites which provide free shipping but this deal depends upon the amount of the products shopped for. There is a minimum limit and those purchasing above that limit is considered to be having provided free shipping cost. This is the case for big orders.

But for online shopping of the branded perfumes you have to be sure of what you ought to purchase as you are not able to smell samples online. The most important advantage of online shopping is that they provide you with additional brands which are not available at all retail stores. Some sites also provide free samples if ordered for and it gives a great satisfaction in shopping from home.

Why you need a compost tumbler for your garden

If you’re looking to turn your garbage into gardener’s gold and do it in a hurry, then you should try a compost tumbler. If you have a compost bin then you know how great it is to add compost to your flower beds and vegetable garden. But making compost takes time and it’s usually in short supply. A compost tumbler is a great time saver when making compost.

Some gardeners believe that compost is better than fertilizer because it doesn’t just feed your plants, it also improves your soil. Improving your soil keeps your plants healthier so they grow stronger and more capable of fighting off diseases or beating droughts. Compost is decomposed organic matter and is high in nutrients that plants love. Bacteria and other micro organisms help break down that decomposing organic matter and their short life cycles become part of the process itself. When they reproduce their offspring continue the process while the parents bodies break down and add to the organic matter. It’s nature’s way of recycling.

Creating compost will usually take a couple of months. If you get the ratio of browns to greens right, turn the pile to keep it aerated and don’t let it dry out you’ll be rewarded with fresh earthy compost. The more you tend your compost pile, the quicker your garden waste will become compost. Neglect the pile and it will still become compost but it’ll take a lot longer. For an example of this examine the rich soil in a forest. As leaves and tree litter fall to the ground, there isn’t anyone there making sure it’s the same wetness as a wrung out sponge. But by the time the next season rolls around, a lot of those leaves have begun decomposing and in the process, they’re feeding the trees and the cycle continues without any help from man.

The gardening season can be very short depending on where you live. In the Northeast we have about 4 months of time to grow the flowers, fruits and vegetables that we love. So unless you have a huge bin of compost ready to go on the first day of spring you’ll need some more during the growing season. A compost tumbler is perfect for making compost fast. Now you probably won’t make enough compost to fill new beds but the amount you can make is perfect to give your plants and nice top dressing.

Or if you are a composter with a pest problem, the compost tumbler will keep the critters out of your pile. The most popular tumblers are sealed up and only have holes for air. If rodents or snakes have been problems for you in the past then the compost tumbler is the solution that you’ve been looking for.

There’s a few things you’ll need to do a little differently if you’re used to bin composting. First off, you’ll need to add all the raw materials at once. Don’t continue adding or else your compost will never be done. Add what you want and then start turning. Try to turn it everyday. If not everyday then at least a few times a week. The first few batches will take the longest unless you already have some compost that you can toss into the tumbler. Or you can use a compost activator. That’s all activators really are anyway. Just someone’s else’s compost to help get your pile started. The bacteria and micro organisms have to get in there somehow.

Be sure not to over water when using a compost tumbler. Moisture doesn’t escape as easily inside the tumbler as with a regular compost bin. And most likely your ingredients such as grass clippings or coffee grinds were already moist to begin with.

After about 3 weeks the compost should start to look like compost. It should be an even color and you shouldn’t be able to tell what you put in the tumbler. If your waste is still recognizable then let it decompose a while longer. And don’t forget to smell your compost. It should have a nice earthy smell to it.

If you’re looking for a neat & compact composting solution that works quickly and won’t receive a lot of attention from your neighbors, then look into a compost tumbler. You’ll be tumbling your way to a great garden this season.

Preventing pollution with hybrid cars

Using hybrid cars and preventing pollution can potentially go hand in hand. A lot of time has been invested in the creation of hybrid cars and pollution prevention in order to develop a more economical option but there is more to it as the effects of pollution on the atmosphere have also been considered. Hybrid cars and pollution prevention can offer a valuable advantage; lower emissions and this can have an excellent effect on the amount of pollution distributed. Far lower emissions on pollution and the other benefits can be gained when using hybrid cars. Hybrid cars and pollution prevention are now acceptable forms of cars that lower these emissions.

Tailpipe emissions affect the environment and pollution levels but this can be significantly lowered when using hybrid cars. The gases released when gasoline is burned pollute the atmosphere and usually consist of gases including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbons. These are known as greenhouse gases and have particularly detrimental affects on the atmosphere and the environment. These gases remain trapped in the atmosphere, affecting our climate and have an overall negative affect on pollution but taking measures such as recycling and using hybrid cars can lower pollution and other impurities that may be caused. Using a hybrid car is just one way to lower the problem but avoiding the use of cars altogether would eliminate the problem. There are many steps other than using hybrid cars that could be taken to preserve energy and avoid pollution.

There are a number of advantages of using hybrid cars on the economy and pollution levels. It is growing increasingly more important to make an effort to produce less gas emissions and airborne pollution. For a clean earth, pollution needs to be significantly lowered and hybrid cars release a lot less greenhouse gases compared to cars run with gasoline engine. Climate changes have also been put down to the severe amounts of pollutions that we have unleashed on the world and the growing environmental disasters are a nasty warning signal that time is running out. These significant reductions that are witnessed by owners of hybrid cars can be a big step on the way to improving the planet. Hybrid cars can save on fuel and even reward owners with a car tax rebate so there are numerous advantages to switching to these vehicles. Although they save money, the most important benefit is the effect of the gas emissions on pollution and the environment.

Understanding the printer toner

With a computer printer sitting on most office desks – both at home and at the office – most users have come to understand the role of the printer toner. But, in most cases, the extent of our knowledge is limited to knowing when and how the printer toner cartridge must be changed. And change it we do, without having any real understanding of how it functions within our printer.

Printer toner contains the ink – whether in liquid or powder form – that allows our computer documents to come to life so that we may hold them in our hand. When we choose the print option from our computer, a signal is sent to the printer, and ink – of all necessary colors – is released onto our papers reproducing exactly the document we constructed on our computer.

Each printer comes equipped with compatible printer toner. Depending on the volume with which we print, the printer toner will have to be changed periodically or more frequently. In this case, we purchase replacement printer toner – which in many a case can be an expensive proposition.

Of course when replacing the printer toner most people turn to the printer manufacturer. The specific printer toner that is compatible with your printer comes with a product number that will help you easily and conveniently locate a replacement. While this can be a more pricey option then purchasing a generic alternative, you are sure to get the quality that your printer needs. Lower quality printer toner, while always less expensive, can seriously clog and damage your printer.

That is not to say, however, that you can not find quality printer toner at reasonable prices. There are generic brands that offer superior quality at a more affordable cost. The key is ensuring that you are dealing with a reputable company that will stand behind the products they sell.

Printer toner is an inevitable part of printer ownership. Take your time to learn what works and what prices you can find so that you affordably address your printer needs.

Do you want to make serious money on the internet

I was one of the thousands (if not millions) of people who wanted my own "internet money machine" and I came from a position where I had little or no computer knowledge - I could send and receive emails and knew how to surf the net - but that was literally it!

Does that sound like you? If so then how do you get from that position to making serious money on the internet? The first thing I did was get incredibly excited. I'd been looking for a home based business and eventually stumbled across the internet as an obvious market place. After all I had a computer at home. So I looked around the web (using one of my existing skills - I knew how to surf!) and soon realised "I want to make money on the internet".

So I spent some more time surfing for ways of making this desire a reality. There seemed so many businesses and no shortage of people offering to make me serious money on the internet. How kind of them! Just type in "online business opportunity" in Google and see what I mean. It was about now I began to think perhaps not all these opportunities were as great as they were cracked up to be!

So I went around doing a bit of market research. How? I visited a few forums. You soon learn that there is a forum on just about any subject online. It is a phenomenon that you can use to weed out some of the good from bad if you use them right. Visit a few (again use Google or whichever search engine you have) and just read the posts relating to your interest. If you like you can join and actually ask some questions. Nearly everyone is helpful and friendly. But beware the person who tries to hard sell his or her opportunity to you.

It helps to get over the get rich quick mentality as soon as possible. Sure you can make serious money on the internet - it is after all a market place - but start out with the intention of making a steady income first. Don't try to run before you can walk. When you have your regular income covered you will be in a good position to move to the next stage (getting rich!)

There are so many business types and niches out there that you will have no problem finding something - in fact you will probably be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of it all. I really had no idea before I started. Just try and hone in on something you have an interest in or that you have some experience in at first. Then research the business and market and the opportunities presented. Visit websites, use the forums and download some ebooks on the subject - invaluable in my experience.

Every bit of help and knowledge you need is to be found online. Just use your search engine as a research tool. The web is like an almost infinite library at your fingertips. I can honestly say that I learned everything I needed without leaving my seat!

Good luck with your "internet money machine", you can do it!

Thumb sucking - a common problem for children

Thumb sucking is a very common problem faced by many children. Many infants develop this habit even before they are born. It provides a level of comfort to the child. It helps the child to settle down as sucking denotes the idea of nutrition. Many a times mother' milk is more than enough to get through this phase of thumb sucking. Thumb sucking can be a very serious problem if not nipped in the butt at the right time. It becomes a habit which continues in your adolescent age. It turns into an addiction which is hard to let go. If this habit continues at the age of five or six it may prove to be very serious. The child can develop problem with teeth as well as fingers.

Thumb sucking is a safety net for the children. Sucking the thumb is very reassuring to the kids. It is being used most of times when the kids are bored, scared, and sick as well as during bed time. Nagging them and scarring them at a tender age of two won't help. When the child reaches an understandable age, the parents should use all the tactics to avoid the escalation of this habit. A toy or a finger puppet can be used to keep the child engaged. By involving the child in various activities you can keep the child focused and busy. Watching TV cannot be termed as an activity.

Due to the continuous thumb sucking the front teeth level is raised. This has to be treated by putting on the braces. This behavior can be easily changed by the initiative taken by the parents and doctors. Keeping the child active is a very important process of discarding this habit. It becomes very important to use and imply different methods and techniques to get rid of this habit. This act is usually given up when they do something interesting and comfortable.

Home Remedy

Applying lemon juice on your child’s finger may help to discard this habit once and for all.

You can also apply bitter gourd on the thumb which is not likeable by many adults.

A Band-Aid wrapped in castor oil and baking soda may also help to get rid of this habit.

Tying socks on your child's hand may also work.

Mississippi real estate the magnolia state

Mississippi is a state known for having a classic southern style. Mississippi real estate is some of the cheapest in the land.

Mississippi

Named after the Mississippi River, Mississippi is a state holding on to its history. Much of the state is farmland and even the towns and cities seem to have eschewed modern development for a more familiar past. In an odd bit of trivia, the state is the biggest producer of upholstered furniture in the country.

It goes without saying that Mississippi is a state with a turbulent history, particularly during the civil rights movement. The state was the quintessential southern state and plantations and antebellum mansions can still be found throughout the state. Racial relations have come a long way, which has left the state with the glorious culture of the old south without as many of the racial issues.

Jackson

Jackson is the state capital of Mississippi and a hidden gem in the south. The city has somehow managed to mesh old southern hospitality with a rapidly growing high tech industry. While that sounds like an odd mix, it works. In fact, Jackson has been voted one of the most livable cities in America by numerous publications.

Jackson is a town with a lot to offer from both a cultural and practical perspective. There are 11 colleges in town, a symphony, opera and multiple museums covering the history of the south and the civil rights movement.

Tupelo

Tupelo is known best for being the birthplace of Elvis Presley. With a celebrity like that, Tupelo has made a major effort to capitalize on the fame. Tourists flock to the city to see the first home, school and so on of the infamous one. Notwithstanding Elvis, Tupelo is a pleasant city with golf courses and such. There isn’t much to recommend it nor is there much to criticize.

Mississippi Real Estate

Mississippi real estate is universally very inexpensive. A home in Tupelo will set you back roughly $160,000 while you’ll pay $220,000 in Jackson. In 2005, Mississippi real estate appreciated at a disappointing 5.5 percent, one of the lowest rates in the nation.

Of all that you can do to promote your website content is king

Content is King: it's a phrase that you'll see all over the internet. Don't believe me? Go to Google; do a quick search for the phrase. You'll get over 157,000,000 results.

It's not just Google that suggests that content is king. Webmasters will tell you that content is king; so will web developers. Internet marketers will say it too. So will bloggers.

But what is content? And why is it king?

Content is the material on your website. Content is the text that you use to describe your product. Content is the information that you add to your blog. Content is the pictures – whether photographs, sketches or vector drawings – that you include on your website. Content is the information found in articles and ebooks. Content is also the video clips or podcasts that you add to your site.

In other words, content is not only king, but content is your website.

What does that mean for you? It means that, no matter how many bells and whistles you add to your website, no matter how great your page looks, if you want your website to be successful you need to have quality content.

But let's look at written content specifically.

Written content is the text of your homepage; it also is the text of your landing sites. Persuasive, keyword rich text on your landing sites will give those who visit you site the sense that you have information that will be valuable to them.

Having valuable information will encourage visitors to your website to stick around and read more rather than leaving your page to go elsewhere. This is valuable when someone arrives at your landing page after clicking on one of you Pay Per Click (PPC) advertisements through Google, Yahoo or MSN Ad Center; but it's also valuable in terms of visitors who arrive at your website from links in email, on bulletin boards and on blogs.

After all, when someone finds your website, you want them to stick around and see what's there. And that is why you need to be sure that the information that is there is both accurate and current.

Accuracy comes from doing your homework. Accuracy comes from checking the facts and making sure that you are not misleading the readers of your page.

Similarly, you do not want to give your readers information that they already know. Why focus on old news when, instead, you could focus on up to the minute news. The value of up-to-the-minute current information is simple: you want viewers of your site to come to you first.

What will encourage people who are browsing the web to recognize that you can provide them with current information? In part, providing the information will persuade them; but there is more that you can do.

Audio and video content are becoming increasingly used on websites. Audio content attracts the search engines and, because it is less used, video content can add a great deal of value to your site.

It may seem that, between keeping your content up to date and accurate and adding audio and video content to your site, there are not enough hours in the day to keep your website fresh. The good news is this: you are not alone.

Services like Article Content Provider can create unique content for you – articles that can be used on landing pages to draw the reader in, articles that can be used in blog entries. ArticleSpeak. com can provide you with audio and even video articles.

Content will always be king – especially if you can consistently provide your readers with accurate information in a timely manner. When you have great content, your site visitors will stay longer and come back for more. The search engines will rank your site higher and, as a result you will see increased traffic. And, if you give your visitors what they are looking for, you are sure to see an increase in sales.

Little league baseball bats - make your kid swing like a pro

Different leagues have different standards for baseball bats. Professional, adult leagues (the ones that hope to make it to the World Series) require classic, wooden baseball bats. But Amateur leagues allow for lighter, more powerful metal bats. When it comes down to equipping your child with the best bat they can possibly get, it takes more than just buying him any ordinary bat.

Furthermore, in high school leagues, baseball bats must be more than 67 millimeters in diameter, so it's only suiting that the requirements for Little League baseball bats are just as stringent! This is no surprise considering the difference in size between adolescents, adults and children. The following requirements are typical and good to know if your son or daughter is thinking about joining a league and baseball bat shopping might be on the horizon.

Little League baseball bats cannot be more than 33 inches long or have a barrel diameter of more than 2 ј inches. Also, they must be taped around the handle. To understand how much a bat weighs, look at the negative number that it is associated with. If a baseball bat is 30 inches long and its number rating is -10, that means the bat weighs 20 ounces. Lighter Little League baseball bats are more powerful than heavier ones (and also will hurt a child a lot less if it accidentally hits them in the head, which is a good thing since there is no crying in baseball!), but they are also more expensive. The surefire way to zero in on the perfect little League Baseball bat for your child is to make some test swings before uou head to the counter.

Tips for avoiding a divorce

If you have a marriage in trouble but you want to avoid divorce, you should know that you have great options for saving the relationship. The exact resources and tools used to put the broken pieces back together will depend on the reason for the problem. As an example, if your wife or husband was unfaithful, counseling can often help sort things out. Therefore, prior to doing anything, you need to identity the reason for the problem in the first place.

Other than infidelity, couples struggle with financial issues, which is a huge factor that can lead to divorce. Typically, both couples work full-time, which helps pay for the house, car, raising kids, paying bills, and even vacation. Unfortunately, many couples overextend, meaning they live on borrowed money. Of all factors, credit cards are the most common problem.

When more money goes out than comes in, massive stress takes over, leading to fights. Before long, the husband and wife are disagreeing on who makes more, what should or should not be purchased, who was at fault, and so on. Then to make matters worse, phone calls and collection companies begin to call wanting to know where the mortgage, car, or credit payment are. For the married couple, it soon becomes too much to handle.

If you find that you and your spouse are on the verge of divorce specific to problems with finances, for the sake of the marriage, go visit a finance advisor or credit counseling company to help get things back on track. In this case, counselors would act as the go-between for you and your creditors. In fact, these counselors are professionals who help set up a repayment plan and then work on a budget for the future.

Just because a married couple is having financial problems does not mean divorce is imminent. In fact, using a mediator or counselor can be a huge assistance. The reason is that the blame-game ends so the problem can reach a solution. Start by putting any differences aside and stop blaming each other. Then, create a solid plan for getting out of debt while also saving money.

Most importantly, to avoid divorce, start communicating. Unless you talk, you can never work things out. Keep in mind that good communication does not mean yelling, it means talking as adults. Therefore, take time so the two of you can sit down face-to-face to discuss the current situation, regardless of the problem. If anger is too high, the services of a professional marriage counselor can help. Just remind yourself that it takes time but with dedication and determination, divorce can be avoided.

Betting mlb ballpark figures keeps betting totals in perspective

A few years back we wrote an article on the importance of evaluating how teams hit left-handed and right-handed pitchers. In summary, we surmised it was important, yet keeping in perspective, we demonstrated how the numbers can be greatly affected by random chance. Hence we warned about becoming too dependant on deceptive statistics that are so often fools gold.

We have very similar thoughts about comparing ballpark statistics. There are some stadiums that could be classified as "pitchers’ ballparks" while others could reasonably be labeled more friendly to hitters.

Yet again, we have to give props to the four-letter evil empire ESPN. In their fantasy baseball section, they have a straight-forward "Park Factor" that compares that rate of stats at home versus the rate of stats on the road. A rate that is higher than 1.000 favors the hitter, with lower than 1.000 favoring the pitcher.

Still, statistical reliability would assume the quality of the opponent has been equal at home and on the road. Random chance indicates some teams will face or use a disproportionate number of aces and No. 2 starters in one location. This deviation is just one example.

Then there is wind direction. Perhaps several teams have had the wind blowing in straight from center a higher percentage while other squads has an overbalanced number blowing out to leftfield.

Why, according the ESPN Ballpark Factor, is Boston the top hitters’ park this year, but was 13th last season?

As of this writing, Rogers Centre in Toronto is the second best pitchers park, yet last year it was a hitters paradise ranking 7th in hitting (24th pitching).

Petco Park is a rare exception. They are currently the top pitcher’s ball orchard after finishing first each of the previous three years and third in 2003.

So how do the elite gamblers use the stats? To measure the reliability of pitchers’ splits is how we employ them. For example, virtually every Padre is going to have statistically better stats at home than on the road. The fact that Chris Young, Greg Maddux, and

David Wells have significantly better stats at home than on the road proves to be the rule, not the exception. Hence the educated eye realizes there is not an angle in their respective splits.

Yet Jake Peavy is actually a better pitcher on the road than at home. This is an advantage for the gambler. A pitcher’s splits are most effective when measured against the ballpark stats.

Is there an edge for the over/under better? Often short-term, but rarely is the edge long-term as the sportsbooks adjust. As of June 19, the Padres last eight road games and 11-of-12 has seen a posted total of 8.0 or higher.

Yet 15 of their last 18 home games have seen a total of 7.5 or lower. Thinking somehow the sportsbooks are oblivious to such angles is one way for a gambler to subsidize bookmakers.

The Park Factor statistic is a valuable handicapping weapon, but more for statistical validation. Those who think they’ve found the Holy Grail with stadium comparisons are not in the same ballpark as the sharpies.

Taking a cruise hurricane season in the atlantic

Hurricane season can be a rather tricky time for summer travelers. Kids are home from college, the younger kids are out of school, mom and dad are taking time off of work and the family want to take a vacation. Wait...what about hurricanes? The official hurricane season in the Atlantic begins June 1 and extends until November 30, encompassing the entire summer season in the Caribbean.

In 1998 the Phantom, a ship on the Windjammer cruise line lost its ship and all of the crew members after it sailed off into sea to avoid a hurricane. In trying to avoid the hurricane, they ran straight into the storm. Thankfully, the passengers had all been dropped off safely on the shore, but the captain and crew of the ship were not so lucky. This is a wake up call to all of those out there who think that cruise liners are unsinkable--obviously, they are not. A year later a Carnival cruise liner experienced some problems during a hurricane, but fortunately the ship, crew, and all the passengers made it out of the storm in one piece.

Situations such as this can cause a lot of travelers to second guess their travel plans, thinking that cruises and hurricanes do not mix. Of course, hurricane season and cruise liners do not go together well at all, but somehow the cruising industry has managed to stay above the hurricane season at least most of the time, making the summer one of the best times ever to take a cruise to the Caribbean. From August to December, the prices of cruises and everything that goes along with it (dining, ship lodging, activities and such) are at an all time low.

Hurricane season can be a real bummer, and those of you who have had your summer vacation displaced by a pesky hurricane or have had your long-awaited and oh so well-deserved cruise vacation cancelled due to inclement weather know exactly why that is. The good thing in all this is that as technology has advanced, so has the capabilities of the cruise liners and the liner companies themselves. No, this does not mean that a cruise ship can take on a hurricane. What this does mean is that shipping companies and weather services go to extra measures to insure that mishaps such as those that occurred with the Phantom never occur again.

Of course, this means that nothing is promised. Do not take any cruise reservations to be final ones, because any slight inkling or joke of a storm will cause the shipping company to yank their ship (their biggest investment) and their passengers (those who fund their biggest investment) off of the ocean in heart beat.

A strong piece of advice is not to finalize anything! Don't pay any hefty deposits for anything having to do with your cruise during the summer months, the peak of the hurricane season.

Why use infrared heat therapy

What is infrared heat therapy, also known as radiant heat therapy? Radiant heat is a term that simply means a form of energy that heats an object directly, without having to warm the air around it. An example of radiant energy is sunlight, which warms the skin even on a cool day. One can sit comfortably outside on a sunny, cool afternoon, and feel the benefit of the sun’s radiant heat or its loss when the sun is obscured by a cloud. This form of heat therapy is often used by physical therapists, physicians, massage therapists and athletes for its benefits of relaxing muscles and its ability to speed healing of injuries.

Many natural therapy practitioners extol the benefits of radiant heat. It has been used by Chinese medical practitioners for centuries, and new studies have shown that infrared light increases the number of white blood cells produced by the body. White blood cells, the body’s main defense against infection, are vital to health and the quality of life.

Infrared heat therapy also provides for exceptional calorie burning. Whole body infrared heat therapy, such as can be obtained with an infrared sauna, can routinely burn six hundred to over two thousand calories in a regular half-hour long session. What a perfect way to lose weight.

Also, infrared heat therapy directly stimulates the body’s largest organ—the skin. Infrared heat therapy produces a deep sweat, which helps to eliminate body toxins and foreign substances. Releasing these poisons has many health benefits. People who use infrared heat saunas regularly can experience relief from arthritis symptoms, increases in circulation of blood and lymph, an increase in the production of collagen, reduction in edema and many other benefits. Many models of infrared saunas are designed for home installation and use, increasing the convenience of this form of sauna.

How to write a love scene

The most critical lesson in writing a love scene is that it is similar to making love in the real world: when done well, it is messy, chaotic and somewhat animalistic. The civilized approach does not work; it leads to the greatest drawback of all: predictability.

Does this sound familiar? The leading man and woman dislike one another intensely; something happens and they see another side of the other; in spite of their best efforts to deny it, they find themselves attracted to one another; and they ultimately fall into a passionate embrace. Do you really want to write that one again?

The Best Love Scenes

The best love scenes are the ones in which the participants are not perfect specimens and the circumstances are obscure and somewhat confused. They are the scenes in which the reader has to work for it. In a word, they are authentic.

For example, here is the opening paragraph of my book, Point and Shoot:

This is how you make love to a woman undergoing cancer treatments. You ignore the metallic taste of her kiss; the slight snorting sound she makes when you press into her; the bony feel of her body, covered by skin that lacks tensile strength; the hairless scalp. You close your eyes and remember what it was like before. You move gently, until you forget yourself, as you should. You savor the moment because there might not be many more. And one more thing: you move very gently.

How to Get Started on Your Love Scene

I would suggest that you start by imagining your most interesting and emotionally-moving encounter with the opposite (or the same) sex. Write out a free association narrative about the images; scents; colorings; texture; dialogue; weather; and other aspects that trigger your memory.

Then, complicate it. You must assume that your memory of the event has been neutered by the passage of time. You remember your past, as we all tend to do, in an unrealistic light, obscuring and shading over the petty annoyances (Could you stop that whistling?); the inconvenient bodily functions (I have to pee.); and the wanderings of your mind (Did I lock the car door?) . So instead of writing that simplistic and ultimately, predictable story, shake it up.

Have your female character imagining a former lover, while her words are only about the man in her arms. Have your male character fear that he will not achieve arousal, and keep this truth from his lover until it can no longer be hidden. Have your characters wear blindfolds, so that all of the narrative description is tactile. In other words, create some kind of slanted, asymmetrical aspect to the story. Make your characters, and the reader, work for it.

Sure, Sex Sells, But Don’t Make it Porn

One of the most frequently asked questions is how explicit to make the love scene. The answer is simple: less explicit than what you would want to read.

It is axiomatic that the most sexually-charged organ of the body is the mind. That is where your story will be experienced, and you need to cater to the mind’s unique way of perceiving. The best caricaturists will use nothing more than a curved line or a geometric shape to suggest an instantly recognizable celebrity. They draw the most memorable aspect of the person’s face, for example the ears. By that alone, the viewer can instantly discern the subject’s identity.

Likewise, a writer must suggest rather than explain. Describe how it feels to run a finger along a thigh; to feel blankets bunched between your body and your lover’s; to be out of breath and not really know why. To paraphrase a long-ago Presidential campaign, make it subtle, stupid.

Here is another excerpt from that scene in Point and Shoot which illustrates the point:

"Are you getting there?"

"I told you never to ask me that question. It doesn't matter. Keep going. Finish."

"If I'm hurting you."

"Keep going."

I sped up. She shifted her hips to make it easier. After a while, I could see a tear well up at the corner of her eye. The tip of her nose flushed. She patted my shoulder again. "I said keep going."

A wave of remorse and self-pity, a heavy, deadening feeling, yanked me back.

I stopped for good and rolled off her.

She lay there, splayed out, staring at the ceiling. Unmoving.

I propped myself on one elbow, stroking her abdomen.

We were silent for a long while.

Conclusion

To sum up, love scenes are done best when they follow no particular formula, but instead, come from the heart. Less is more. Of course, you should also keep in mind that the research is frequently much more fun than the actual writing. But take a few moments to get it down on paper, anyway. We readers like to watch.

Unsecured small business loan process is easier today than ever before

Today, more and more people are applying for loans online. From busness loan applications, home loan applications, to online car loan applications, the application process is simpler and easier online. The precarious part about filling out an online loan application is that the consequences of improper loan applications can be detrimental. Incomplete or incorrect loan applications can result in a denial of the loan request, or not getting approved for as much money as you may have hoped, even though you actually had the credentials and qualifications for your original loan request.

Generally, unsecured small business loans applications are fairly simple. As a trend, they are much simpler and easier to fill out than the paperwork at a traditional bank or lending institution. Many online lenders today boast one page applications. You simply fill out the fields online and once you submit it, the information is electronically retrieved by the lender Its that simple.

For those that are particularly intimidated by the loan application (and even those that aren’t), submitting a loan request online is not a bad idea. These web based lenders are efficient, have great loan programs, and are much easier to apply to than traditional lenders. Their paperwork is far shorter, and has an interactive help section in case you get confused. When you are filling out an unsecured small business loan application, as well as other loan products, sometimes one application filters through several lenders for a better chance of approval.

The most common measure of security taken by lending companies is to require collateral. This means the business loan request will be approved only if it can be secured against a home, vehicle, or other asset of value. In the event that the loan defaults, the lender can then recover its money due to the lien placed on this object.

Business plans are one if the most dreaded parts of the unsecured small business loan application process. These plans can be thick, detailed, and complicated. Often they require information that a small or startup business may not even have! The worst part is that completing a well done business plan does not guarantee loan approval.

The small business loan application process can also be made difficult by the imposition of restrictions on how the loan proceeds can be used. This takes away the borrower’s freedom to use the funds as he or she may have seen fit. You can escape these hassles by using an online application for a unsecured small business loan.

The online loan application is easy to complete. Just fill in the fields and then click on submit, and the information is electronically sent to us. You will need only the most basic information to fill out our online application. This will include the amount of the loan you are seeking, and your basic contact information, such as your phone number, address, and email address. You will also be asked basic questions about whether or not you own your home, and what you believe your personal credit rating is. Basically, the process will be very similar to filling out an easy online credit card application.

Applying for a unsecured small business loan is easy, all the business owner need to do is just go on line and submit their loan details. Then the lenders will refer back to you with the loan decision in a few days.

History of olive trees

Olive trees, ‘Olea europaea,’ are the oldest fruit trees and certainly are one of the most important fruit trees in history. Olive tree culture has been closely connected to the rise and fall of Mediterranean empires and other advanced civilizations throughout the ages. Because olive trees offered wealth and future food supplies to established civilizations, the agricultural nations became stable societies, resulting from a secure expectation from past experience of an uninterrupted food and olive oil supply. This factor was a necessary requirement for population growth and increase. Dependable fruit production and olive oil production means that olive trees must exist in a stable society and a peaceful environment. That stability must extend for many years, since most ancient seedling olive trees required eight or more years before ever producing the first crop of fruit. Productive orchards of olive trees meant that a foundation of the great empires of Greece and Rome had arisen and developed into complex economic and political forces. It is interesting to note that the historical decline of these empires corresponded to the destruction of their olive tree orchards that reduced the available supplies of olives, olive oil, olive wood, and olive soap. In connection with the destruction of olive orchards, it is interesting to note that in the Israeli wars with Palestine, 50,000 olive trees were destroyed by Israeli bulldozers. That act of agricultural destruction resulted in considerable anger and unrest along the Gaza strip and the West Bank, because the economic livelihood of many Palestinian farmers depended on their products from the uprooted olive trees. Additionally, the olive tree was historically a ‘peace and goodwill’ symbol, and when the olive trees were leveled near the city of Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus and the “Cradle of Biblical History,” that elimination of olive trees seemed like a deliberate provocation to end the ‘peace’ with the Palestinian settlers and farmers.

The Greeks recognized that in their vast empire they must avoid hostilities and war during the period that the Olympic Games were being conducted, and they declared a worldwide armistice so that their complete attention could be directed toward their athletic events and games.

Medical properties of olive oil were reported by many ancient Greek writers and philosophers, their importance in creating nutritional benefits and wealth for Greek citizens continues abundantly today--some Greek olive tree orchards containing a million or more trees. Aristotle wrote extensively about the accepted methods of successfully growing olive trees.

Greek mythology records that Athena, the Goddess of wisdom and peace, struck her magic spear into the Earth, and it turned into an olive tree, thus, the location where the olive tree appeared and grew was named Athens, Greece, in honor of the Goddess, Athena. Local legend tells us that the original olive tree still stands growing after many centuries at the ancient sacred site. Citizens still claim that all Greek olive trees originated from rooted cuttings that were grown from that original olive tree. Homer claimed in his writings that the ancient olive tree growing in Athens was already 10,000 years old. Homer stated that Greek courts sentenced people to death if they destroyed an olive tree. In 775 BC Olympia, Greece, at the site of the ancient Olympic stadium, athletes competed and trained, and winners were triumphantly acclaimed and crowned with a wreath made of olive twigs. Ancient gold coins that were minted in Athens depicted the face of the Goddess, Athena, wearing an olive leaf wreath on her helmet holding a clay vessel of olive oil. The Greeks began olive cultivation in 700 BC. The sacred lamp that was used in ancient Greek culture for lighting dark rooms at night was fueled by olive oil. Aged olive oil was also used in sacred anointing rituals of the church at weddings and at baptisms. Herodotus wrote in 500 BC, that the growing and exporting of olives and olive oil were so sacred that only virgins and eunuchs were allowed to cultivate orchards of olive trees. The first documented plantings of olive trees may have occurred during the Minoan civilization on the island of Crete and are believed to have been growing around 3500 BC. That civilization predates the discovered Mycenae olive fossils from 1600 BC and later in the Greek empire. Sturt Manning, an archeologist from Cornell University, reported in Live Science Magazine (Apr 28, 2005) that the most devastating volcano in 10,000 years occurred on the Greek Island of Thera, after which the city of Akrotiri was totally buried by the falling ash. The finding of olive wood and olive seed fossils buried near the site has shown through carbon dating that the volcanic eruption occurred between 1660 and 1600 BC and may have contributed to the total destruction of the advanced Minoan civilization (Atlantis) on the isle of Crete and may have led to the formation of the Sahara desert in North Africa after vaporizing the native forests there.

In the Old Testament of the Hebrew Bible (Gen 8:11), Noah was given an olive branch by a dove after the great flood as a symbol of peace and love of God, which it remains today. In the book of Exodus, Moses explains that God expected olive oil to be used in various rituals that were performed by priests of Israel. Olive oil was used as an anointing oil to be poured over the heads of Kings and priests that acknowledged their authority as an agent of God. Many other references to olives are given in the Bible. Psalms 52:8 “But I am like the green olive tree in the house of God, I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever.” Finally, Jesus was to spend his last day praying at the mount of olives garden of Gethsemane, in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. Jesus was arrested there, tried, convicted, crucified and later ascended to heaven, after his resurrection from the tomb.

Impressionist artists were stunned by the antique age and beauty of olive trees and their productiveness that resulted in masterpiece paintings by Van Gogh, Cezanne, Renoir, and Matisse. The world’s great Biblical reporters, literary writers, and poets immortalized the olive tree, such people as Jesus, Milton, Shakespeare, and Lord Byron.

Thomas Jefferson wrote “The olive tree is the richest gift of heaven.” The U. S. Department of Homeland Security has reported “Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, who traveled abroad, brought plant material such as olive trees and rice back to the U. S. to develop United States agricultural production.” Thomas Jefferson was the U. S. ambassador to France during the Revolutionary War, and he began to import olive trees and seeds into the southern U. S. The excessive humidity of South Carolina and Georgia did not allow profitable olive tree orchards to develop properly in those areas. Jefferson wrote “The greatest service which can be rendered to any country is to add a useful plant to its culture.” He ranked his introduction of the olive tree and dry rice into South Carolina as two of his top lifetime achievements. Thomas Jefferson wrote to James Ronaldson on January 13, 1813, “it is now twenty-five years since I sent them (southern planters) two shipments of about 500 plants of the olive tree of Aix, the finest olive trees in the world.”

The fragrant flowers of olive trees are small and creamy white, hidden within the thick leaves. Some cultivars will self pollinate, but others will not. The blossoms usually begin appearing in April and can continue for many months. A wild, seedling olive tree normally begins to flower and produce fruit at the age of 8 years. The fruit of the olive tree is a purplish-black when completely ripe, but a few cultivars are green when ripe and some olives turn a color of copper-brown. The size of the olive fruit is variable, even on the same tree, and the shape ranges from round to oval with pointed ends. Some olives can be eaten fresh after sun-drying and the taste is sweet, but most olive cultivars are bitter and must be treated by various chemical solutions before developing into edible olives. If the olives are thinned on the limbs of the trees to 2 or 3 per twig, the ultimate size of the olives will be much larger. The fruit is gathered in mid October and should be processed as soon as possible to prevent fermentation and a decline in quality.

The leaves of olive trees are gray-green and are replaced at 2-3 year intervals during the spring after new growth appears. Pruning yearly and severely is very important to insure continued production. The trees have the unproductive limbs removed, “so that it will be more fruitful” John 15:2. An olive tree can grow to 50 feet with a limb spread of 30 feet, but most growers will keep the tree pruned to 20 feet to assure maximum production. New sprouts and trees will emerge from the olive tree stump roots, even if the trees are cut down. Some olive trees are believed to be over a thousand years old, and most will live to the ripe old age of 500 years.

Olives generally are beaten off trees with poles, harvested mechanically or by shaking the fruit from the trees onto canvas. Most ripening olives are removed from the trees after the majority of the fruit begins to change in color. It is important to squeeze out the olive oil within a day after harvesting or else fermentation or decline in flavor and quality will occur. The olive oil can be consumed or used in cooking immediately after its collection from the press. Olive oils are unique and distinct, each brand of olive oil having its own character, as determined by many factors, like those unique flavor differences found in fine wines. Prepared commercial olive oils can vary greatly in aroma, fruit flavor; whether the taste is, flowery, nutty, delicate, or mild, and the coloring of olive oil is quite variable.

Olive oil produces many health benefits when used in cooking or when poured over salads. The use of olive oil can improve digestion and can benefit heart metabolism through its low content of cholesterol. Experts claim that olive oil consumption will cause a person to grow shiny hair, prevent dandruff, prevent wrinkles, prevent dry skin and acne, strengthen nails, stop muscle aching, lower blood pressure and cancel out the effects of alcohol.

Olive trees can survive droughts and strong winds, and they grow well on well drained soils up to a pH of 8.5 and the trees can tolerate salt water conditions. In Europe, olive trees are normally fertilized every other year with an organic fertilizer. Alternate bearing can be avoided by heavy pruning and generally the trees respond to this very quickly and favorably.

Olive trees should be purchased that have been vegetatively propagated or grafted, because the seed grown trees will revert to a wild type that yields small olives with an insipid taste. Olive trees are more resistant to diseases and insects than any other fruit tree and, therefore, are sprayed less than any other crop.

The Romans conquered Greece in 146 BC, and the victors took olive secrets to Rome, but since then Greece has remained the greatest exporter of olive oil during the centuries. The olive tree seems to be perfectly adapted for growing in the mild climate of the Mediterranean countries. The trees grow well in dry areas with mild winters and long hot summers, even enduring drought conditions or high winds. The European area of the Mediterranean produces 98% of the world olive oil supply. Olive seed are believed to have been brought to California in 1769 to grow into trees hardy to 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Those olive trees were cultivated in the Franciscan Spanish monasteries.

Even though commercial production of olives in the United States is only 2% of the world market, great interest in growing olives throughout the South has been stimulated by the recent introduction of promising cold hardy olive trees from European hybridizers. Many European immigrants to the United States grow their own olive trees in large pots, that can be moved in and out of the house during seasonal changes.
